Abstract: | Meaning and sense are two interrelated concepts instrumental in verbal communication. They are at the crossroads of many disciplines such as linguistics, psychology, and psycholinguistics. Study of meaning and sense may hold out important implications for foreign language teaching and learning. However, as is noted, the existing amount of research on these entities still fails to shed light on the nature and use of them. This paper makes another attempt to redefine the nature of, relationship between, and the development of, thêse two concepts. Thus, foreign language education can be facilitated, and put on a more scientific and effective footing. |
